Rockaway Youth Task Force develops politically conscious youth leaders who are invested in improving themselves and their communities through member-led campaigns, leadership development, movement building, and cultural expression. Job Description: We are looking for an experienced, personable, energetic Youth Organizer to strengthen and rytf our base of youth leaders in Far Rockaway, Queens.
The Youth Organizer will rytf support our youth members in leadership development and organizing around social justice issues relevant to young people of color. As a key member of a small staff, the ideal candidate would be an energetic organizer with a commitment to social justice, community organizing, and civic engagement; flexible and effective in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and has a great sense of humor.
A successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and vision of the Rockaway Youth Task Rytf and have experience working with youth through organizing; a commitment to social justice and youth leadership, and excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
The position will be based out of Far Rockaway, Queens.
The ideal candidate must be ready to work with and engage young people in Rockaway communities and schools. Other Information: The work schedule includes evening and weekend meetings and events. Candidates requiring strictly a 9 to 5 schedule will not be a good fit for this position.

Youth Organizer Responsibilities: Leadership Development Develop weekly political education trainings for youth organizers Facilitation and rytf of weekly political education trainings Support and coordinate youth organizers to facilitate political education and workshops Integration of members into campaign and base-building work, and logistic coordination Regular check-ins with membership base with a focus on social-emotional learning Base Building: Conduct street outreach, school presentations, organizational outreach, phone calls and text to youth within the community Rytf with RYTF youth participants to plan, develop, and execute RYTF base-building events, including outreach plans Retention — Implementation of strategic membership development and retention plan to move members into areas of more active leadership within RYTF.
